The Swallow Theatre

Scotland's Smallest Theatre

The Swallow Theatre is closed until at least August 2020

On 16 March 2020 both the UK and Scottish Governments announced that people should avoid theatres and other social places.

In addition, those aged over 70 are being told to self-isolate for at least 12 weeks, and this will affect many of our audience.

We have to follow government guidance and we intend to play our part in controlling the spread of coronavirus and therefore we are sadly going to temporarily close The Swallow Theatre until we are told it is safe to re-open.

We feel desperately sad about having to close as we know that many of you were looking forward to some great shows. It is a very worrying time for all self-employed actors, musicians, writers, and designers and also for all small business people, and we are very sympathetic to the impact it is going to have on so many people.

However it is important to follow the advice from the government and their medical advisers.

We are currently talking with all the performers who were due to appear here over the next few weeks and we hope to re-schedule as many of the shows as possible to later in the year or to 2021.

Please see our full events list for the current status of each production.

For shows that are postponed or cancelled, we are getting in touch with ticket-holders and arranging refunds, or a transfer of tickets to the new date. It will take a little while for us to organise all this, so please bear with us. We shall keep our website and Facebook pages updated with the latest situation on each show as we have information.

We send you our best wishes in these challenging times, and we look forward with hope to the time when we can all once again enjoy the magic of live performance.
