Sunday Afternoon Play Reading
Join us to read 'The Second Shepherd's play' and a festive 'Galoshan'
Why not join us at The Swallow Theatre for our second play reading of the 2018/19 Winter season.
Sunday 9 December : 2.00pm
Suitable for ages : 16+
Join us this Sunday
Our next play reading is this Sunday 9 December at 2pm in the Sumner Room at The Swallow Theatre.
We will be reading two short plays that belong in the festive season, both by that well known author Anon.
The first is ‘The Second Shepherd’s Play’. Although it dates from the early 15th century, it is a down to earth comedy which still resonates today. And we will also read one of the traditional plays – known as ‘Mummers’ Plays’ in England, ‘Galoshans’ in Scotland – performed between Halloween and Hogmanay.
These enjoyable afternoons are great for anyone who wants to share in reading a script, read different character parts or, if you prefer, to simply listen to the reading and learn a little more about the background to the play.
