Thirteen of Jane Austen’s heroines come to life in this bold revisiting of some of literature’s most celebrated works. Using only Austen’s words Rebecca Vaughan (Orlando, Jane Eyre: An Autobiography, Christmas Gothic, Dalloway) becomes Emma Woodhouse, Lizzy Bennet, Mrs Norris, Miss Bates and nine other beautifully observed women in critical moments from the major novels (including Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility and Emma) and lesser known or unfinished works.
Austen lovers and the uninitiated alike will revel in this brilliant and illuminating evocation of Austen’s Women.
Written and performed by Rebecca Vaughan
Directed by Olivier Award Winner Guy Masterson

About the recording
We are making available an archive recording of a performance in front of a live audience at The Swallow Theatre.
The recording was not made with the intention of being shared or broadcast: it was made purely for archive purposes. However, in these strange times in which theatres across the UK are closed to audiences, we would like share it with you.
The theatre company has kindly given their permission for us to do this.
The recording was made using a single fixed camera that captures a full view of the stage. It gives a slightly elevated view, similar to sitting at the rear of our auditorium. As there are no cuts between cameras, you get to choose what to look at, as you would at a live performance.
The picture and sound quality of the recording have been optimised to give the best viewing experience.
If you experience any issues, however, please do let us know.
How long is the recording available for?
The recording will be available for viewing between the dates as shown above.
Once you have signed up you can watch the performance anytime to suit you during the available period.
If you intend to watch the recording close to the end date and time, please bear in mind the running time which is shown above to ensure that you allow sufficient time to see it all the way through to the end.
