The Old Lady Shows her Medals‘ by JM Barrie

Our next play reading is on Sunday 13 January at 2pm in the Sumner Room at The Swallow Theatre.

We’ll be reading ‘The Old Lady Shows her Medals‘ by JM Barrie from the Echoes of the War Resource Pack compiled by Cally Wight and produced by the JM Barrie Literary Society. This is available on line from the JM Barrie Literary Society website for those who would like to download their own copy – the pack includes the script of the play.

In the accompanying notes we read that ‘You need to understand Barrie’s famous quote from What Every Woman Knows (1908) ‘There are few more impressive sights in the world than a Scotsman on the make’ to fully comprehend his satirical, edgy, sense of humour.’

These enjoyable afternoons are great for anyone who wants to share in reading a script, read different character parts or, if you prefer, to simply listen to the reading and learn a little more about the background to the play.

NO obligation to read
